Marina Armor Stone Enroute
Excavation of Hoakalei Marina is nearly complete. Crews expect to finish carving out the 53 acre body of water in the next few months.
Actual completion of the marina is still several years away - once the excavation is done, crews will need to finish the edge work and continue their desilting efforts until work on the entrance channel begins. Another shipment of granite armor stone is expected to arrive this summer from China. Crews will place the granite on either side of the marina's entrance to help absorb wave energy and protect the edges from erosion. The edge work is expected to be finished later this year.
When the marina is complete, the public will enjoy a vibrant waterfront district envisioned to have exciting shops, restaurants, a farmers market, plus a seven-lane boat launch ramp complex and pedestrian promenada around the marina.
