This commitment is seen repeatedly in the company's generous support of area schools and organizations, such as the Boys & Girls Club of Ewa Beach, the Puuloa Outrigger Canoe Club and the Ewa Beach Community Association.
Our history of community stewardship goes back more than a decade, long before the first home in Ocean Pointe was built. Haseko began working with the surrounding community in the early 1990s to create a list of benefits for all of Ewa Beach to enjoy.
Some of the benefits are:
The Ewa Beach Community Trust Fund, which gives grants to groups providing activities/services for Ewa Beach youth and senior citizens. Haseko created the fund a decade ago, and in 2004 contributed an additional $250,000. Haseko will donate another $1.75 million to the fund once Hoakalei Country Club golf course opens.
The Haseko Training Fund, which gives grants to area organizations to provide pre-employment training with an emphasis on marine-related industries. Haseko has contributed $200,000 to this fund so far, and will continue to provide an additional $100,000 per year for the next three years.
Approximately 9 acres of beachfront land to expand Oneula Beach Park and more than $2 million to make park improvements.
20 acres for a district park and childcare facility. Haseko gave 1.25 acres of land to Seagull Schools, which broke ground on their Ocean Pointe campus in March. The remaining land is in the process of being given to the City & County of Honolulu to develop a district park to benefit all of Ewa Beach.
Land for a new fire station. Haseko has dedicated one acre of land to the Honolulu Fire Department for a New Fire Station facility. HFD expects to begin construction on the Ocean Pointe site in 2009. Haseko will also donate two jet skis and trailers to the new station.
Six acres of land for an elementary school site in Ocean Pointe. Haseko ultimately donated twice that amount for Keone'ula Elementary School to be built.
Haseko is also investing millions of dollars in infrastructure improvements to benefit our neighbors makai of Ocean Pointe, and working with kupuna on ways to preserve the history of the area for generations to come. The company also supports the many community events in Ewa Beach, such as the annual Easter Bash, Halloween Bash and Christmas Parade, and the first annual Embrace Ewa Festival.
At Haseko, we're not just building homes - we're building a community.
