Excitement Growing over Club

Excitement is building over Hoakalei Country Club - O'ahu's first private country club to be built in more than 30 years.  And no one feels it more than Tulinh Luciano-DeSmith - the newly hired director of sales & marketing for the club.

Tulinh has the pleasure of meeting all the interested prospects for membership at Hoakalei, and showing off the Ernie Els-designed championship golf course.

During a recent tour, Tulinh was joined by Greg Letsche of Ernie Els Design, who provided her guests with insight into how Ernie came up with some of the features on the course.

Ocean Pointe residents, Plaza Club members and others who have added their name to the Resident Membership Interest List on the club's website are receiving information about joining the club.

If you haven't already done so, make sure your name is on that list by logging on to www.HoakaleiCountryClub.com.  Membership reservations will be taken in the order received, and will be on a first-come first-serve basis.

Members will have access to the finest golf experience on the island, a diverse calendar of activities and unique events, and a clubhouse that will feature meeting rooms, dining facilities, locker rooms and a pro shop.

While Tulinh focuses on growing the membership, Ernie Els and his team are carefully monitoring the progress of his first signature design course in Hawai'i.

"The golf course is now really taking shape," reports Els.  "We've moved the game on a little bit, in as much that we've grassed a few more of the holes.  There are now only four or five holes where we just have to finish off the main features.

"Realistically, seeing what we have to do still, I'd say we're looking at having the golf course completed by November.  I think any time before that might be a little optimistic.

"But, you know, it's all good.  There's a lot of work going on as regards to general tree planting and also on the infrastructure of the site and its residential component.  Things are moving forward in every sense.  It's a very exciting time at Hoakalei."

The grand opening for Hoakalei Country Club is expected to occur in January 2009.
