$50,000 Donation to James Campbell High School
James Campbell High School students were thrilled to learn that the school’s Saber Media Program received a $50,000 contribution from Haseko. The news was announced during Saber Media’s morning campus-wide broadcast on October 18. Haseko's Assistant Vice President Sharene Saito Tam presented the check on air.
The school will use part of Haseko's contribution to purchase a “Feather Pack” mobile video unit, and send 10 Saber Media students and two faculty chaperones to their first national competition in January. The remaining portion of the gift will support maintenance of a server, which is used to stream videos produced by students, faculty, and partners of Saber Media for instruction, public service announcements, and general school information.
Saber Media Advisor Oscar Ramiscal hopes Haseko's donation will help engage students and community members to produce more content for the school's daily campus broadcast and for cable TV.
Saber Media students are already gaining valuable on-the-job training by providing video production services to the 'Ewa Neighborhood Board and other groups.
