Patriotic Artwork Sent to Deployed Troops

In honor of Military Appreciation month, Haseko organized and sponsored a Patriotism Poster Contest for Keone‘ula Elementary School.  Students expressed themselves through the arts to show their appreciation to troops that are deployed in Iraq.

All of the original artwork entered in the contest will be sent overseas to troops deployed in Iraq.  One of the receiving groups will be the HMM-262 “Flying Tigers”; they are a U.S. Marine Helicopter Squadron that is based in Japan.  Another group receiving artwork is the 25th Expeditionary Air Support Operations, an Air Force Squadron based out of Wheeler, Oahu.

On June 6, Haseko provided meadow gold ice cream for the entire school to thank them for their participation.  Fourteen student artists were recognized for their outstanding work of art at the school’s year-end assembly.  Each talented students was presented with an award booklet and a $20 Jamba Juice Card.

The images of the 14 selected posters will be made into a patriotic quilt and displayed at Keone‘ula Elementary later this year.  Haseko has teamed up with Flags Across the Nation, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting patriotism through the Arts, to incorporate Keone‘ula’s Patriotic Quilt in a National traveling exhibit that will tour the country.
