Volunteers Help Clean Oneula Beach Park

Volunteers geared up this past weekend for the annual Statewide Get the Drift and Bag it cleanup. Oneula Surf Club teamed up with Councilman Todd Apo’s office to coordinate this year’s event at Oneula Beach Park. Volunteers from James Campbell High School hiking club, Puuloa Outrigger Canoe Club, and Haseko walked up and down the shoreline picking up litter left behind by beach users.

This annual “Get the Drift and Bag It,” is a statewide program that is part of International Coastal Cleanup day. Participants in the worldwide annual event collected marine debris from beaches and recorded what they found. The program provided trash bags, gloves and bottles of water for Volunteers. After the cleanup, Oneula Beach Volunteers were treated to lunch provided by Haseko.
